C.B.N.O. films made with Blender on Youtube

You can now see some of my latest Blender animations on Youtube this link will take you to my page. There is only one film at the moment as I only just figured out how to bundle the video and audio together in to one thing and its still not totally right but good enough for now. I’ve started using Blenders in built sequence editor to put the films together, rendering that as a WMV file then syncing the music in windows movie maker, not the best option I know but its all I have right now. There will be move of my Blender movies coming very soon!

‘La Demoiselle’

This is a model of ‘La Demoiselle’ designed by Santos-Dumont; the world's first successful light aircraft completed its maiden flight in Bagatelle, France, November 1907. The model, made with Blender, was made using original images and plans as well as a set of plans for a rubber band model of the plane. At the moment the engine is just a fake mock-up and I’ve added a few modern ideas, like the on-board computer and webcams. If I could I’d build a real one and then fly it round the world. It’s a love hate thing with flying; big carrier planes are so dirty and the people packed in like sheep, that’s more a job for trains. I'm even looking in to the possibilities on making this Demoiselle electric, the motors are there its just the weight of the fuel cells that presents the problem.

Pangier

A few screenshots of my latest Blender work for the ‘Pangier’ project.
The Pangier project is a working concept for a MMOG. Pangier is a pastiche of the world, these images are of a stylised European countryside, mostly England. Pangier is designed to be a massive sandbox/social game with the emphasis on choice. Designed to run at a more thoughtful pace, Pangier even contains the game concepts for ‘Stoll II’ & ‘Reincarnation’. Pangier has seasons, trees lose leaves in winter, crops grow in fields and things can get overgrown. There are towns and cities with a busy vibe and large tracks of land to get lost in and everything needs to be invented?

Peacehead one and only gig 1993

Chris B (FLSDT) & Chris S (SORP) of the W.H.O played bass and guitar and I was on the Drums. A one off band and gig, there have been a few of them, we had more fun rehearsing in the squat I was living in on Wickham Lane than playing that gig. It was Chris B’s first gig on the bass and he got a little nervous and his fingers turned to jelly during the set. Chris S and I spent the whole set looking at each other with a “what the fuck do we do now!” kind of expression. The gig was in the, now gone, Thames Poly Top Bar, one of the most depraved student bars in the world (more on the top bar later). With in a few weeks of the gig me and Chris S had moved to Bristol and that’s why it sticks in the mind.

The Bristol Brewhouse Backroom Pt 01

The only image I have of the Backroom

Sometime in the summer of 1993, after moving to Bristol in June, I went to the Bristol Brewhouse on Stokes Croft, run by the Ross brothers and famous of brewing, at the time, the world’s strongest beer called ‘Christmas Pudding’. It didn’t take me long to make a few friends with the bar staff and with in a week I was making inquiries as to what lay behind the double doors at the back of the pub.

The Backroom was a bit dilapidated, and full of junk “man this would make an excellent venue” I said to Edwin Ross who was showing me round. The Backroom was about 30 meters deep by 10 meters wide; there was a small bar to the left of the doors, a low stage at the far end and the roof was church like with beams that already had spots hanging from them.

So we made a deal; I would arrange the repair of the Backroom and Edwin would supply the tools, after that they would let me put bands on. It took a few weeks to paint the ceiling as it was hard work squeezed in to the roofs apex and having to dismantle the scaffold tower every time it had to be moved past the beams.

By November 1993 the work was done. NOSEBLEED had formed and was preparing for the Backroom at the Brewhouse first night on Wednesday 10th of November 1993, and that’s how it all started!

Arctic Monkeys do a NOSEBLEED

I quite like The Arctic Monkeys and now they’ve gone and taken on an old NOSEBLEED idea that we never got fulfilled. Tone Def and I really wanted to do a few gigs based on the wizard of Oz. it was easy, I was the Tin-man, Tone was the Lion, Pat the Scarecrow but the problem came when we wanted Camron to be Dorothy, the finale was meant to be Camron jumping on to a toy dog filled with bags of fake blood. “I aint dressing up like that” he protested and it never got done. I think it was around that time that I first started thinking about moving on. I hate having a creative flow blocked by someone thinking themselves to cool or scared of being laughed at. Now look at these boys, one of the ‘coolest’ bands in the UK and do they care what they look like, no.

NOSEBLEED third gig poster

Circa 16th July 1994, Saturday night of Ashton court
Experiment were an excellent band from back home in south east London. Lead by Paco of Conflict fame and fronted by the most brilliant of singers, Jackie…. Anyway, we gave them the first slot which surprised them until they realized they wouldn’t even be on stage until 10pm. NOSEBLEED and the Bristol punks didn’t see eye to eye but they all had to be there to see Paco and then we came on….

The W.H.O at the Tramshed

The Woolwich Tramshed is probably best known for some of the comics that have played there; Jasper Carrot, Hail & Pace and Harry Hill but it was also, at times, an excellent music venue. The Weird Happenings Organization (W.H.O) played the Tramshed on many occasions to good crowds of local Freeks and students from near by Thames Poly (now Greenwich uni). The W.H.O played with loads of bands at the Tramshed, some of the best being; The Brain of Morbius, Mother Gong, Fear of Fear to name but a few. A huge crowd turned out for the W.H.O gig played on the night of the day I got let out of H.M.P Northeye, a most memorable night and I’m not talking about playing the gig. There are no more gigs at the Tramshed, these days it’s a dance center.

NOSEBLEED second gig poster

Circa 29th June 1994,
Tone Def was living in a caravan out front of the legendary 81 Ashley Rd, in Bristol. It was a hot summer and NOSEBLEED had begun using the ground floor front room, rehearsing and recording. The sound in that room was amazing, it was small but full of chairs full of foam and it gave a completely flat sound. For some reason there was a door, where there should have been a window, that opened out on to Ashley Rd and we’d have that open in the middle of the day. NOSEBLEED rehearsals were always very controlled and the only time we made noise was when we played a number, ever been at a rehearsal where everyone is banging and clanging and fiddling about, you cant here a word anyone says and nothing gets done.

This poster was in the window of Tone Def’s caravan and me and him was sitting on the stoop having a smoke when some bloke comes along and offers to buy the gun that’s in the poster. Now we don’t have guns but we lead this bloke on until he had the impression we was armed to the teeth. Maybe that’s why we never had any trouble, let’s just say we sometimes asked for it!

Death in Oakland 'El Toro' 1st Nov 2006

Tone Def says....
"Saw these right poncey wankers the night before, Pere Ubu. I was a few sheets to the wind and so let them know their shortcomings, so much so that the whole gig got stopped. I had visions of being dragged away by law enforcement officers shouting, 'Never leave a man behind!' Ha!"

As he told me, he snatched someone's camera, threw it at the drummer and hit him in the head. nice one mate keep up the good work.

NOSEBLEED first gig poster

Circa 1993 NOSEBLEED first gig poster. Live at the Bristol Brew House, supported by the Tijuanic Dub Front DJ’s, who later went on to form the world of cheese that was very big in Bristol for sometime. Personally I have to say I'm not to keen on all that cheesiness’. NOSEBLEED set up in a corner of the backroom behind a massive camouflage net, so no one could see us, and created a storm.

Blender 2.43 I love it

Blender 2.43 has just been released (19th Feb. or there about) and the Blender website has been completely up-dated with a whole new look. Funny, just as I was up-dating my site Blender was doing the same.

I've only just downloaded
Blender 2.43, so haven't looked at much of the new stuff but one thing I did notice; in the past to quit Blender you just hit the 'Q' key which is right next to the 'E' key and on occasions when modelling, and in particular, 'extruding' I'd hit the 'Q' buy mistake and before I'd thought about it, hit 'Return' key and shut down blender, losing all the unsaved work.

dame and blast, the air would turn blue, I wasn't blaming Blender, just my own stupid mistake. Anyway, first time I open up
Blender 2.43 I run the K-rot file, everything looks pretty much the same. Then I hit the 'Q' to Quit, nothing happens.... I hit the 'Q' key a few more times and then I think " I bet I know what they've done" so I hit 'Ctrl+Q' and bingo, theirs the quit dialogue box and Blender 2.43 is closed.

now this may not seem like much but to me it's bloody amazing and it goes to show that the good people who are connaturally writing new code and making improvements to Blender are, and I don't say this lightly, genius!

Year one;
The GITinternational news-wire moves from

Sometimes we may rant ‘not too much I hope!’ sometimes we may waffle ‘oh bloody hell ere we go’ there will defiantly be some preaching ‘NO! PLEASE!’ and don’t forget the politics ‘that’s it I’m leaving’

So welcome to the NOSEBLEED Bloggers
