‘La Demoiselle’

This is a model of ‘La Demoiselle’ designed by Santos-Dumont; the world's first successful light aircraft completed its maiden flight in Bagatelle, France, November 1907. The model, made with Blender, was made using original images and plans as well as a set of plans for a rubber band model of the plane. At the moment the engine is just a fake mock-up and I’ve added a few modern ideas, like the on-board computer and webcams. If I could I’d build a real one and then fly it round the world. It’s a love hate thing with flying; big carrier planes are so dirty and the people packed in like sheep, that’s more a job for trains. I'm even looking in to the possibilities on making this Demoiselle electric, the motors are there its just the weight of the fuel cells that presents the problem.
